We have enjoyed working with ABN-Amro, the Dutch Finance House, since early 2001 in assisting them with various issues associated with their UK headquarters building, 250 Bishopsgate, in EC2.

ABN occupied this building around two years ago and since have experienced some operational issues with many of the fit-out and basebuild systems.

As a result of shortcomings within their resilient electrical systems, MEIT were commissioned to design and manage the installation of a further major UPS and standby generation system to ensure business critical functions continued uninterrupted during power interruptions or variations.

The installation and testing was completed within the occupied building without disruption and has subsequently proved its worth in anger.

Remedial works to the previously vulnerable elements of the electrical systems have now been implemented and the resilience originally intended now reinstated.

Our other primary function has been to manage the process of concluding a number of items left over from the fit-out contract. This has involved extensive remedial works to systems and an almost complete re-commission of the mechanical air and water services.

Responsibility also extended to a complete O&M manual rewrite, combining both base and fit-out information and building fabric, supplementing any information shortfalls.

The York BMS system was also extensively reviewed to improve the original provision and enhance the operation, monitoring, alarm handling and control strategies. Our works have resulted in considerable running cost advantages, ease of operation, greater levels of information and improved occupant environmental satisfaction.
